All cars in the Scottish Mini Cooper Cup are prepared according to tight technical regulations, designed to ensure there are minimal car performance variations through the field leading to close racing where driver skill should show through.

The racings cars are based on production BMW Mini Coopers produced from 2001-2005, with minimal modifications:

- Performance airfilter element (standard airbox retained)
- Straight through exhaust system (CAT back)
- Superchips re-flashed ECU

Suspension & Chassis
- AST coilovers
- Adjustable rear antiroll bar

Brakes
- Standard BMW Mini Discs
- Upgraded Mintex pads
- DOT 5.1 Racing fluid
- ABS & traction control disabled

Interior
- Suede rimmed smaller diameter sports steering wheel
- Single drivers bucket seat with 6 point harness
- Bolt in 6 point roll cage
- Stripped of trim in accordance with SMRC regulations
- Boot mounted fire extinguisher
- Engine kill switch
- All sound deadening and insulation removed
- Airbags removed

Wheels & Tyres
- Team Dynamics ProRace 1.2 alloy wheels (7x15in)
- Yokohama Advan A48R56/R cut slicks (195/50 R15)

Exterior
- Aerokit front bumper and skirts (optional extra on standard Coopers when new)
- Regulation rear wing
- External towing eyes
- External electrical kill switch and fire extinguisher activation switch
- Sponsors graphics
- Occasional tyre rubber burns and scrapes (hey, rubbing's racing!)
